Covid-19 Outbreak in Taney County Nursing Homes

Taney County Health Department Confirms COVID-19 Cases in Taney County Nursing Homes August 5, 2020.

The Taney County Health Department (TCHD) is notifying the public of 70 COVID-19 cases in four Taney County nursing home facilities. Residents and family members who have been impacted have been notified.

“The TCHD continues working with these facilities and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to ensure appropriate testing and health and safety precautions are being taken.” states Lisa Marshall, Director of the Taney County Health Department.

Associated case investigations and close contact notifications continue. A close contact is defined as someone who was within 6 feet of a person who is contagious for at least 15 minutes.

Known cases as of Tuesday, August 4th (3:00 pm)
Point Lookout Nursing & Rehab: 32
Shepherd of the Hills Living Center: 34
Forsyth Nursing & Rehab: 3
Lakeside Mountain Manor: 1

Staff and management at these facilities are asking for the public’s help to curb the spread of COVID-19 in nursing homes and other residential care facilities. Individuals in these living facilities are at an increased risk of getting COVID-19 and at an increased risk of severe illness and death. The risk to those living in residential care facilities and nursing homes is increased due to the prevalence of COVID-19 in Taney County.

TCHD reminds the community to take preventive measures to slow the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a face covering, physically distancing by 6 feet or more, and staying home if you are sick. If you do develop symptoms, seek medical attention.
